Women in Iran already live under tremendous pressure and without freedom. In times of war, there is usually a sharp rise in domestic and sexual violence against women. It is they and their children who bear the brunt of war’s effects, and it is they who have the least power to shape events.
This was true in the Syrian Civil War, the effects of which we saw among the large refugee population. Our supporters made it possible for local women—attorneys, psychologists, and educators—to assist their brave sisters. Whether it was a need for shelter, legal assistance, social awareness training, or even music courses as a means of self-expression and personal fulfilment, our local partners were there.
Today we have the opportunity to begin helping Iranian Kurdish families with direct assistance, providing much needed and appreciated support to families from the areas we first served 115 years ago. Our focus is on ensuring mothers and children have necessities, including food, medicine, housing, and sanitary supplies (a big need often overlooked in relief work).
Join us with a special designated gift supporting our first work with this community since 1979.
100 percent will go to suffering mothers and children.
